Chilli con carne
Description: A firm favourite and I haven’t messed with this one. Simply 100% British beef slowly simmered in a spicy chilli mix with tomatoes and red kidney beans.
Health benefits: The minced beef in this dish is a great source of iron and the main source of vitamin B12. Women are often deficient in vitamin B12 and if you lost blood during birth then you’re almost certainly low in iron. The humble tomato and its amazing health benefits make another appearance here, bursting with anti-oxidants and essential vitamins and minerals. As if that wasn’t enough the red kidney beans also pack a nutritional punch providing a good source of manganese, phosphorus, protein, vitamin B1, iron, potassium, and magnesium. The protein in both the minced beef and kidney beans will help keep you fuller for longer, this is very important as who knows when you’ll next get the chance to sit down, (or stand) and eat!
